With a career spanning decades, Richard has worked continuously as a teacher, performer, producer, studio engineer and songwriter. He brings the same passion to his teaching practice as he does to his studio work and performances, seeking to inspire his students and elicit the best they have to offer.
Richard studied songwriting at the Berklee College of Music and was selected to be a featured artist at the Berklee songwriter showcase, “Berklee in the Round.” He conducts songwriting workshops at FTSM and other locations, including music festivals such as Podunk Bluegrass, CT Folk and Black Bear Americana. A shortlist of his recording credits includes music heard on the Discovery Channel (“Penn & Teller”), TruTV (“Almost Genius”), the History Channel (“Pawn Stars”), and a DVD release of the PBS series “Roadtrip Nation.” Some of the artists he has performed onstage with include the likes of Peter Yarrow, Livingston Taylor, Tom Chapin and Jonathan Edwards, to name but a few. As a songwriter, Richard’s most recent collection of original songs, “A Step Up,” was released in 2016 and produced by Rex Fowler (Aztec Two-Step).
